Starting a fashion/lifestyle/food/travel blog has always been something that I’ve wanted to do. I’m pretty sure I’ve started at least five, but never saw them through. To be honest, I never felt like my life was ‘cool’ enough to start one. Let’s start at the beginning (I’m about to get real personal here):
2017 has probably been the rockiest year of my life. A lot of highs, a lot of lows, a lot of moves and a lot of changes. Right after college (Go UCF Knights!) I got a job in Los Angeles working in post production for a hit TV show on ABC. I mean what a dream come true. Having a theatre and broadcast journalism background, this was it for me! My time had come and I knew I was going to make it. Going to LA with a job for a major television program…I was living every college graduate’s/millennial’s dream.
I thought the ‘glamorous’ life of Los Angeles was going to be for me – fashion, modeling, acting, entertainment – not so much. I stayed out there for three years, had my own apartment, worked for television shows and movies, went out with my girlfriends, dressed up to go everywhere, but with all of that going on, I felt very alone. The party scene was fun and I made some of my best friends and memories over there, but at the end of the day, I felt like I wasn’t moving forward.
For the first time in my life I didn’t have a job, nothing was lined up for me and I felt completely lost. During this time (I call it the Dark Ages), a lot of unfortunate personal and family events took place. It was one bad thing after the other and I felt like every decision I was making was the wrong one. I knew something had to change, so I swallowed my pride and with such ease and help from my entire family, I terminated the lease on my apartment, dropped off my car, gave away my furniture, donated 15 bags of clothes and shoes, packed whatever was left in my closet and moved back to South Florida.
Ok, now that those days are behind me…here I am! I decided I needed to take a break from the entertainment industry and focus on myself and what I really wanted in life, so Timeless In Denim was born.
I know who I am and I know who I’m not. I realized that as much as I love to be on trend, there is one thing I can’t live without – my denim! Whether it’s a pair of skinny, flared, boyfriend, ripped, distressed jeans or even a full on denim jumpsuit, you can go anywhere in it. Now this doesn’t mean I’m only going to be wearing denim on the blog, but to me denim is timeless.
I love fashion and would love to go out and buy a YSL bag, a Gucci belt and go on a major shopping spree on Revolve, but I can’t right now and that’s ok (one day though). I can, however, shop at Zara, Urban Outfitters, Asos etc., eat at trendy Miami restaurants, go to music festivals, and go on vacations with family and friends. That right there sounds like a pretty ‘cool’ life to me.
I hope you join me on this new adventure and hopefully we can make this world a trendier and happier place one blog post at a time!
